Wedding Hair and Makeup for a Large Bridal Party: Building Your Service List
“We have ten people getting ready” is a helpful starting point, but it is not a complete hair and makeup booking brief. Ten makeup appointments are a different request from ten people having both services. For a large bridal party, the best first step is a simple list of names, services, and finish times.
Count services, not just people
Give every person their own line. Mark hair, makeup, or both, then note any styling requests that could affect preparation. Include the bride, attendants, parents, and guests who are part of the booking.
For example, a group of eight with six hair appointments and eight makeup appointments has fourteen services to plan. That example does not determine how many artists you need; it gives the team enough information to review the work and your deadline together.
Ask the group to make decisions early
Collect preferences before requesting the final schedule. Ask people to confirm their services and share a few useful reference photos. Mention extensions, hair accessories, and any requested veil placement. If someone is unsure, flag that rather than silently adding an extra appointment.
Keep private product concerns or sensitivities between that person and their artist where appropriate. The shared list can stay focused on services and timing, while individuals provide personal details directly.
Identify the appointments that must finish first
Your photographer may need the bride ready earlier for portraits or dressing photos. A parent may be leaving for another location, or an attendant may need to help someone else. Put those deadlines beside the names they apply to.
Use a hair-and-makeup finish time that leaves room for dressing and travel. A ceremony time alone does not explain when the team needs to finish. Share the photographer’s plan and the getting-ready address with your inquiry.
Review artist coverage with the team
Ask your beauty team to propose staffing based on the actual services, looks, available workspace, and ready-by times. Do not build the morning around a fixed “minutes per person” estimate from an unrelated wedding.
If several artists will work at once, check that the room has enough chairs, clean surfaces, light, and nearby power. A crowded suite can make a parallel schedule difficult. Confirm what you need to provide and where everyone will sit.
Choose one coordinator and one final version
Nominate someone to collect the group’s answers and communicate changes. Send one revised list when appointments change, with the date of the update clearly marked. That prevents an old screenshot from becoming the schedule people follow.
Before the wedding, have the group review their appointment order and preparation instructions. Ask the team how additions, cancellations, and later touch-up coverage are handled under your booking terms.
