Los Angeles Brand Shoot Hair and Makeup: Booking for Multiple Looks

Oct 9
2 min read

A brand shoot with three outfits needs a different beauty plan from a single headshot. Before you book Los Angeles brand shoot hair and makeup, decide which looks need a full change and which only need a small adjustment. That gives your producer and beauty team something useful to schedule.

Start with the shot list

Share the shoot date, exact address, number of people on camera, and the earliest time each person needs to be ready. Add outfit references and a short description of the campaign. A clean website portrait, an outdoor lifestyle scene, and a dramatic evening look may need different preparation.

You do not need a finished mood board to inquire. Even a rough shot list is better than “a few looks.” Tell us what is confirmed and what is still being decided.

Put look changes in shooting order

List each person’s looks in the order you expect to photograph them. Note changes to hair texture, an updo, a stronger eye, or a different lip. Ask your artist which transitions can be handled with a quick adjustment and which need a separate appointment window.

For example, loose waves followed by a pinned style may work differently from a pinned style followed by a smooth blowout. Your hair type, extensions, and accessories also affect the plan. Discuss the sequence before locking the production schedule.

Decide whether you need coverage during the shoot

Initial preparation and on-set coverage are separate booking details. If you need an artist available for touch-ups or look changes after shooting starts, include the expected finish time and the type of coverage in your inquiry. Do not assume the team will remain on location after the initial appointments.

For an outdoor setup, identify a shaded prep space and suitable lighting, seating, a work surface, and power. Confirm where the team can unload and whether the production moves between locations.

Send one clear production brief

  • Production date and Los Angeles address

  • Talent count and hair or makeup services for each person

  • First-camera times and the planned shooting order

  • Look references, outfit changes, and accessories

  • Expected wrap time and requested touch-up coverage

  • Parking, unloading, and room-access instructions

If the photographer changes the order, share the updated schedule with the beauty team. A small change in the call sheet can affect who needs to be in the chair first.
